We build sequencing synths and sequencers that sit happily in your DAW and come into their own on stage. Every μ-series app is made to be played live: swap a rhythm without stopping the music, lock the screen for performance, and tie the whole rig together with a free sync hub and mixer.

μ-clid MIDI and μ-link are freeware. The rest are pay what you want, from £0, with £20 suggested. Nothing is ever limited, and the source is open (GPLv3).

Instruments you can play,
not just programme.

A DAW session is for building. A gig is for playing. We are making interesting sequencing synths and sequencers that work well in the studio and, more importantly, hold up live, where you can't stop to fix things.

Swap without stopping

Change a rhythm, a pattern or a whole preset while the music plays. The new one takes over at the end of the loop, so the groove never stumbles. Choose whether a swap lands on the master loop or on each layer's own loop. MIDI Program Change works too.

Performance mode

Build a list of up to eight presets, then lock the screen for the gig with one button. A step indicator shows the switches you have queued, and holding the button for a second takes you back out. In the standalone apps.

Tap tempo

Tap the beat in the transport bar to set the tempo, or let the standalone follow an external MIDI clock. No digging through menus while the room waits.

A shared sync hub and mixer

Run several apps side by side and let μ-link keep them on one clock, sum them to one output and mix them on stage, with scenes that switch presets across the rig in one click.

Clip launching, per layer

Each layer will hold a bank of stored states that you launch like clips, so every layer has its variations ready to go and you can play the arrangement by hand.

Launchpad control

Play the family from a Novation Launchpad X: pads for layers and clips, buttons to step through presets, and lights that show what is playing. The controller layer is built and we are mapping it to the apps.

Pick a scale and a chord and it plays the notes through a two-oscillator wavetable synth. Every control can be modulated, so the arpeggio never has to stand still.

  • Nothing is limited. All features, all the time.
  • Pay what you want. From £0, suggested £20 (GBP), through Lemon Squeezy. You get a licence key even for £0.
  • A key removes the support prompt. Copies without a key show a polite prompt when the app starts, once per session. "Maybe later" hides it for that session, and it comes back next time.
  • Open source. The source is GPLv3 on GitHub.
  • μ-clid MIDI and μ-link are freeware, with no support prompt and no key at all.

Shared Architecture

One architecture.
Every instrument.

Every μ-series instrument shares the same mixer and modulation architecture across all 8 tracks. Whatever the sound engine, the same powerful modulation and mixing system is underneath.

Eight MSEG or stepped-sequence modulators per track route to any parameter. All tracks flow into a full mixer with per-channel sidechain — any track ducks any other, or from an external host signal — three send effects, and two master insert slots.

Individual outputs are available per track, and any sequence or voice can be swapped live — manually or via MIDI Program Change — without stopping playback.

Live Sequencer Swap

Switch any sequence or voice while playing via MIDI Program Change. In μ-clid these are Rhythms; in μ-tant, Voices.

Sidechain on Every Channel

Every mixer channel has its own sidechain input — duck any channel from any other, or from an external host signal. Use a μ-clid kick to pump a μ-tant drone pad for classic electronic textures.

Individual Outputs

Route each track to its own DAW output for parallel processing, hardware effects, or external mixing.
